An estimated 3,000 people attended a protest this afternoon against plans by Dublin City Council to build a new flood defence in Clontarf.
A Dublin City Council spokesman said it is preparing a report on how to protect properties in the Clontarf area from coastal flooding.
The council said the report will go before the November meeting of the elected council.
Work is due to begin next year on a proposed nine-foot embankment - extending 3km along the Clontarf Road from Alfie Byrne Road to the Bull Wall.
However, a number of residents are complaining that the defence structure would destroy the promenade and bay view.
