Former Fianna Fáil TD for Kildare North Michael Fitzpatrick has died.
Mr Fitzpatrick served for one term and lost his seat at the last General Election, which he contested despite being diagnosed with a serious illness last year.
Party leader Micheál Martin said he was deeply saddened by his passing and said Mr Fitzpatrick had been truly honoured to be elected to the Dáil in 2007.
