An Australian regional government minister has appealed to Irish workers to emigrate in order to fill tens of thousands of positions in the region.

Rob Knight, the Northern Territory Minister for Business and Employment said they desperately need skilled workers for the construction, mining and services industry.

Mr Knight said unemployment in the Northern Territory was at around 4%.

He was speaking at a Working Abroad Expo in Dublin where 5,000 people are expected over the weekend seeking information on emigrating to Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
