A new initiative to help people understand where and how to complain about the health service has been launched in Dublin.
17 regulatory bodies and patient campaign groups have helped set up the website, healthcomplaints.ie
It is supported by the Ombudsman, the Medical Council, the Health Service Executive, the Citizens Information Board, the Health Information and Quality Authority and others.
Minister of State at the Department of Health Roisin Shortall said it was important that everyone has the right to make a complaint and be confident the complaint will be dealt with fairly, properly and promptly.
The campaign will also be rolled out in hospitals, nursing homes, GP surgeries and other health facilities.
A recent poll found 84% of people with a complaint did not know who to complain to and 52% felt too intimidated to complain.
