A sperm whale that became beached on a sandspit off Dungarvan in Co Waterford has died.
The whale had earlier nearly stranded on the east side of the Hook Peninsula in Co Wexford on Thursday night.
The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group said that the mammal was male and approximately ten metres long.
