A man has been airlifted off Inisheer Island after falling from a medieval castle.
The man, who is in his 40s, is believed to have sustained multiple fractures in the accident.
The Shannon based coastguard helicopter was sent to the island to airlift him to Galway University Hospital.
Inisheer is the smallest of the three Aran Islands.
