Tallaght Hospital has said it has no evidence that any patient information has been the subject of unauthorised access and disclosure.
In a statement this evening, a hospital spokesman said that it took the precautionary measure of notifying the Data Protection Commissioner on 22 July of unsubstantiated allegations regarding unauthorised disclosure of personal data and what steps the hospital was taking.
The spokesperson said they had found it efficient and cost effective to outsource some transcription services.
He added that the data was encrypted and that the company involved was bound by a confidentiality agreement.
