Three people have died in separate road crashes in Donegal, Galway and Wexford.

In Donegal this morning, a 26-year-old woman died in a two-car collision in the Laghey area.

The crash happened on the Donegal town to Ballyshannon road at 9.40am.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Letterkenny General Hospital.

Two women in the other car were taken to hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

All road diversions in the area have now been lifted following the incident.

Elsewhere, a 42-year-old man died after he was struck by a car in Furbo in Spiddal in Galway at 1.40am.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to University College Hospital, Galway.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was uninjured. The road has since been reopened.

Earlier, a 40-year-old man died in a road crash at Ballyellen between Arklow and Gorey in Co Wexford.

The crash happened on the M11 southbound at 12.05am.

The car in which he was a passenger crashed into the central median.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men in the car received minor injuries. The M11 was reopened earlier this afternoon.
