Minister for Justice Alan Shatter has said he was surprised that a memorandum criticising the Government’s approach to the issue of judicial pay was published on the website of the Courts Service.
Mr Shatter said he asked an official in his Department to inform the Chief Executive of the Courts Service that he did not believe the posting was appropriate.
However, Mr Shatter said that it was ultimately for the Courts Service to determine what action should be taken.
He said he was disappointed that the memo was still on the website, but hoped that ‘corrective action’ will be taken.
