Four divers rescued off Wexford coast

Four divers were rescued off the coast of Co Wexford last night.

The alarm was raised at around 10.30pm after their boat overturned off Kilmore Quay.

It is understood their boat, a 6m rib, capsized when it hit a wave.

The four divers were winched to safety by a Waterford-based helicopter at around 5.30am.

They were airlifted to Waterford Airport where they were medically assessed.

There are no reports of any injuries.

The boat was towed to shore by the Kilmore Quay RNLI lifeboat.

The Kilmore Quay Lifeboat, Rosslare Lifeboat, Dunmore East Lifeboat and the Fethard Lifeboat were involved in the operation, which was co-ordinated by the Irish Coastguard in Dublin.
