Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Eamon Gilmore has said the Government is committed to achieving the UN target of providing 0.7% of GNP by 2015.
Mr Gilmore, who is on a three-day tour of Tanzania, added that there is no doubt that its very challenging for us to meet the target in light of our current economic circumstances.
He added that it is important to reconfirm our commitment to the poorest people in the world.

Ireland provided just over €31m in bilateral aid to the east African nation in 2010, where income levels are among the lowest in Africa.
On Sunday, the Tánaiste will meet US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to discuss improving nutrition in developing countries.
He is also due to meet President Jakaya Kikwete, Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda and representatives of Irish NGOs.
