Education Minister Ruairí Quinn has said that his department will spend an extra €30m repairing schools this summer.

The spending will form part of the Government's Jobs Initiative that will be announced on Tuesday.

The Minister has said that 380 schools will benefit and some 3,000 workers will be required during the period of the repair works.

Speaking on RTÉ's The Week in Politics programme Mr Quinn would not say how many jobs overall the Government's initiative would create.
