A complete ban on visiting has been introduced at Nenagh General Hospital following the discovery of three cases of c-difficile and one case of norovirus.
Three other patients are showing symptoms of gastro-intestinal upset.
The hospital has appealed to the public not to visit except in cases of grave emergencies and not to seek to enter any ward without first seeking permission from nursing staff.
Infection control procedures are now been stepped up at the hospital.
