Sinn Féin and the DUP have launched their Assembly election manifestos in Northern Ireland.

Sinn Féin said it is seeking to hold a referendum on Irish unity and implement what it called an all-Ireland strategy to create new Gaeltacht areas.

It has also proposed that a referendum should be held on a new all-island constitution and said that people in the North should be able to vote in Irish presidential elections.

The party is also opposed to a rise in student tuition fees and the introduction of household water charges.

The DUP said it is committed to urging the British government to reduce the rate of corporation tax in Northern Ireland.

Launching the party's Assembly election manifesto, party leader and First Minister Peter Robinson also said the DUP would oppose any rise in student tuition fees and block additional water charges.

He also pledged to support the creation of more than 20,000 new jobs in the North, increase spending on health and double tourism revenue.
