Boy (4) critical after Galway pool incident

A four-year-old boy is in a critical condition at University Hospital Galway following an incident at the Leisureland swimming pool in Salthill this afternoon.

It is understood that the boy got into difficulty in the pool.

Two lifeguards came to his aid and efforts to resuscitate the boy continued for more than half an hour.

The boy was later taken by ambulance to UHG.

The Leisureland Complex is owned by Galway City Council.

A spokesperson said they would be looking into the incident in the coming days, but that for now their thoughts were with the child and his family.
