Former Lord Mayor of Cork and Independent City Councillor Dave McCarthy has died after a long illness.
Last August, Cllr McCarthy received a civic reception to mark 25 years as a councillor in Cork.
He was elected Lord Mayor of Cork in 1997.
Originally a member of Fianna Fáil, Cllr McCarthy was first elected as a representative for the Cork North West ward in 1985.
