The search for two missing fishermen off the coast of Co Dublin has been suspended for the evening but will recommence in the morning.

Earlier, a small boat had been located by crews searching for two fishermen missing off Skerries in Co Dublin.

A preliminary examination on the fishing boat located five miles south east of Clogherhead indicates that it is the boat of the men.

The search was concentrated in the area where the boat was found and garda divers were searching where the lobster pots were.

The men failed to return from a fishing trip yesterday evening.

Dublin Coast Guard has said that local vessels, three coast guard units and three life boats are taking part in the search.

The search and rescue helicopter based at Dublin Airport and the Garda Water Unit are also involved in the search.

An Air Corps Casa maritime patrol aircraft and an Air Corps AW 139 helicopter joined the search.

They searched the coastline using surveillance equipment.

Coast guard spokesman John Draper said a number of items, which are believed to belong to the missing men, were found during an initial search last night.

Both of them are married and are aged in their 20s and 30s.
