An investigation is taking place into an armed robbery at a jewellers in Newcastle West in Co Limerick.
Two men went into the shop on Bridge Street in the town at about 2.45pm, armed with a handgun and an axe.
The men held up staff and made off with some items of jewellery.
Gardaí believe they left the scene in a white van which they drove around the corner to Maiden Street, where the vehicle was abandoned and burnt out.
The men then left Maiden Street in a grey coloured saloon car and drove to Ballyagran, where the car was also burnt out.
