The jury in the trial of a 25-year-old man for the murder of Limerick rugby player Shane Geoghegan has been sent home for the night.

It will resume its deliberations tomorrow morning.

Barry Doyle from Portland Row in Dublin and Hyde Road in Limerick denies murdering Mr Geoghegan on 9 November 2008.

The jury has now been deliberating for almost 11 hours since Friday afternoon.

Mr Justice Paul Carney told jury members this afternoon that he has to attend a judges' meeting this afternoon and told them to return at 11am tomorrow morning.

There are now only ten jurors left. One man was discharged because his father was critically ill.

Another man was discharged before lunch as he is going to the US in the morning.

The decision of the five men and five women has to be unanimous.
