The Total Fitness chain of gyms has announced the immediate closure of its three centres in Dublin.
The gyms in Castleknock, Malahide and Sandyford all closed at midnight.
The company, Centre Operators Limited, blamed the high level of rent on the properties for the closures.
The company said it had tried unsuccessfully to renegotiate the rents.
In a statement on its website, the company said it regrets the redundancies and impact on its members.
