Cases of human swine flu and other types of influenza continue to decrease, according to the latest figures from the HSE's Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

There have been 23 influenza associated deaths this season, of which 18 were due to human swine flu.

In the case of 21 deaths, the patients all had an underlying medical condition.

Influenza B now is the predominant circulating influenza type.
