The fitness to practise committee of the Medical Council has dismissed the allegations of professional misconduct against Dr Dympna Waldron.
The palliative care consultant had denied allegations that she failed to provide adequate pain relief to a patient who had a benign brain tumour.
At the fourth day of a resumed fitness to practise inquiry by the Medical Council, Dr Waldron said the treatment of the patient at University College Hospital Galway was complex.
The patient, Paul Clarke, from Kilkelly in Mayo, who is in his 40s, was treated in April and May of 2007.
Dr Waldron faced seven allegations of professional misconduct, which she denied.
A medical expert told an earlier hearing that Dr Waldron was very unwise to reduce the dose of one medicine by 37%.
It was claimed that she placed Mr Clarke at risk of addiction and that she failed to arrange follow-up care when Mr Clarke was discharged.
In evidence today, Dr Waldron said there were mistakes in the medical notes.
The inquiry heard previously that Mr Clarke had been seen by 19 consultants and four GPs.
