The Labour Relations Commission has deferred until tomorrow a decision on whether it is worth reconvening talks between Aer Lingus management and the cabin crew union IMPACT in a bid to resolve the row over rosters.
Last night, talks adjourned without agreement with sources saying the two sides were as far apart as ever.
It is understood that LRC Director of Conciliation Kevin Foley and arbitrator Kieran Mulvey has had contact with the parties today to see if there was any basis for resuming negotiations but deferred a decision until tomorrow.
In the meantime, up to 10% of Aer Lingus flights continue to face disruption.
Almost 300 cabin crew have been removed from the payroll and disciplinary measures, which could result in staff being sacked, are still ongoing.
Aer Lingus has said 12 flights have been cancelled today as a result of the ongoing dispute.
A spokesperson for the company said the 12 flights had been taken out of the schedule four days ago and customers were informed and have been accommodated on other flights.
The flights in question were from Dublin to Europe and the UK.
The airline has said it is endeavouring to operate its full schedule today, however there is the potential for some disruption.
