A Co Limerick woman has died and a number of other people have been taken to hospital following a suspected gas leak at a hotel in Co Cork.
Emergency services were called to the Trident Hotel in Kinsale this afternoon following the discovery of a young woman's body in an upstairs bedroom.
The woman's sister was rushed to Cork University Hospital where she is in a serious condition.
Several other people were treated at the scene and at the hospital for breathing difficulties.
The hotel bar was busy for lunch at the time and customers and staff were cleared from the area which was sealed off by the emergency services.´
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the hotel trying to identify what caused the incident but it is understood that gardaí believe a gas leak was responsible.
The Trident Hotel has been closed as gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority investigate the incident.
