Gardaí have released an image of a scarf, which they believe missing woman Blathnaid Timothy was wearing as a headscarf at the time of her disappearance.

It is a scarf from Warehouse and is called a 'Dogtooth' scarf.

The scarf would have been slightly frayed from wear and tear and may help jog people's memories if they had seen her.

A public appeal has been issued for people who were in the Howth Village/Harbour Road/Howth Pier area on the evening of Tuesday, 14 December from 8.30pm onwards and who may have seen Blathnaid or any lone female out walking to contact them.

Emergency services were dealing with an incident on the West Pier from about 8pm onwards that evening and the Howth Yacht Club AGM.

Gardaí say they hope this additional information may make those people more aware of the crucial timeframe and day and date.

Anyone with information can contact the gardaí at Harcourt Terrace on 01 6669500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
