Census - Applications for enumerator posts closed

Applications for 5,000 census enumerator posts have now closed, after the number of applicants reached 15,000.

The CSO said while 11 January was the closing date for applications, it had previously indicated that no further applications would be accepted once they had received 15,000 applications.

The CSO will interview all 15,000 applicants at 220 interview boards to be established across the country.

Successful applicants will be offered fixed-purpose contracts of around ten weeks and can expect to receive an average of €2,200.

Enumerators will go into the field on 11 March. The 2011 census takes place on Sunday 10 April.
