Two people have died in separate house fires in counties Cork and Galway.
In Cork, a woman in her 70s died in a fire at her home in Crosshaven.
The fire broke out at a house on Middle Road. Neighbours raised the alarm at 5am.
Firefighters from Crosshaven and nearby Carrigaline were on the scene within 10 minutes but the house, where the woman lived alone, was well ablaze at that stage.
Her body was found after the fire was brought under control and fire fighters were able to enter the house.
Meanwhile in Co Galway, a 48-year-old man died in a house fire in Woodford.
The man was asleep in an upstairs room in his home in Cregg in Kylebrack when the fire started.
Two units of Portumna Fire Brigade and gardaí attended the scene.
The man was pronounced dead at 11am, and his body was removed to University College Hospital Galway for a post-mortem examination.
