A Coast Guard helicopter from Shannon has rescued a climber who got into difficulties while climbing the Slieve Mish Mountain Range outside Tralee in Co Kerry this afternoon.
The man was airlifted from an altitude of 1,000 metres to Kerry Airport shortly before 4pm.
He contacted the emergency services complaining of exhaustion after he had set out alone from Curraheen, near Tralee, this morning.
The climber was not injured.
Kerry Mountain Rescue Team, which was also involved in the operation, has reiterated its warning to hill walkers and climbers that conditions at altitude are currently extremely dangerous because of the weather conditions.
