A small earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale was felt in Cumbria in the northwest of England last night.

The tremor lasted around 20 seconds and was felt more than 80kms away across Cumbria, Lancashire, south-west Scotland, Yorkshire, Northumberland and the Isle of Man.

Police in the UK say there are no reports of injury or damage.

The tremor was picked up by the US Geological Survey.
