The loan that the UK will contribute to Ireland's economic bailout was up for discussion at a meeting of the British-Irish Council on the Isle of Man today.
Taoiseach Brian Cowen held talks with British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg at the meeting.
The legislation required to allow the UK contribution is due to be discussed in Westminster this week.
The Taoiseach also held a meeting with Northern Ireland's first and deputy first ministers.
Topics for discussion included broadband availability and digital inclusion. The Taoiseach was accompanied by Minister for Communications Eamon Ryan.
The British-Irish Council involves the governments of the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Britain, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey.
It aims to promote positive links between the members.
