A group of students from Dublin colleges entered the grounds of the Department of Education today and staged a meeting there.
The group, numbering between 30 to 50, erected a marquee on the department grounds at Marlborough Street in Dublin.
They said they held a 'surprise conference' to discuss the future of the country's education system.
The students were from the National College of Art and Design and other colleges.
They said they planned to stay there for as long as they can. The students invited department officials to address them.
However the Department declined to accept this invitation.
