The 'Arklow Raider' vessel ran aground last night as it was leaving Drogheda, Co Louth, in strong south-east gales.
The vessel is carrying a cargo of cement.
The crew of seven remains on board and are waiting for high water to make an attempt to re-float the vessel.
Separately, the 'Red Duchess' was three miles south of Carnsore Point in Co Wexford when it lost a portion of its deck cargo of logs at around 1am today.
The logs were washed overboard in stormy conditions and some have washed up on the south-east coast.
The vessel, which has a crew of six, was on its way from Portavogie in Scotland to Youghal, Co Cork.
The Irish Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
