'Traction' seen in Croke Park deal

Kieran Mulvey - Danger that pay and reform deal could fall into 'serious question'
Kieran Mulvey - Danger that pay and reform deal could fall into 'serious question'

Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission Kieran Mulvey has said he is starting to see a certain degree of traction almost six months after unions ratified the Croke Park Agreement.

Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, he warned that without tangible, meaningful delivery of reform within six months, the public sector pay and reform deal could fall into serious question.

Meanwhile, the Teachers' Union of Ireland has issued a statement denying that it has accepted the Croke Park Agreement.

Mr Mulvey made the claim during his Morning Ireland interview.

The statement said: 'TUI members have voted to suspend industrial action temporarily to allow union negotiators to participate in discussions on issues arising from the Croke Park Agreement.

'The outcome of any discussions on these will be put to a ballot of the appropriate members of the Union before anything is agreed.'
