The body of an elderly woman, taken from a plane at Gatwick airport by her son and brought to Co Kerry without documentation, is now thought to be back in the UK.
Serious concerns had been expressed by the Kerry County Coroner over the delay in burying the woman who had lived with her son at a rented house in Kenmare before passing away while on holiday in Malta in September.
The woman, aged 91, died of natural causes in Malta last September.
Her son, who is reported to have brought the body to Ireland via England, laid out the remains in a rented house in Kenmare.
It is understood he left his home with the corpse three weeks ago, after he was told the body had to be disposed of properly.
Yesterday, Coroner Terence Casey issued 'an ultimatum' that the woman's body be properly buried or cremated.
