The trial of two people charged in connection with the death of model Katy French has been adjourned until next year.
At Trim Circuit Criminal Court today, Judge Michael O'Shea remanded Kieran Ducie and Ann Corcoran on continuing bail to appear back before the court on 1 February 2011.
The court was told that the trial of 40-year-old Mr Ducie of Lambertstown Manor, Kilmessan, Co Meath, and 29-year-old Ann Corcoran of Tolka Road, Clonliffe Road, in Dublin could last ‘in excess of one week’.
Both are charged that between 1 and 2 December 2007 at a service station in Bracetown, Clonee, Co Meath, they conspired with persons not before the court to possess cocaine for the purpose of supplying to another.
They are also charged that on the same dates at Lambertstown Manor, they intentionally or recklessly engaged in conduct, the supply of cocaine to Ms French and failure to get medical assistance in a timely fashion, which created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to another.
When the case was called today, counsel for Mr Ducie said they had made an application under Section 56 of the Criminal Justice Act to obtain visual copies of interviews and transcripts.
The barrister for Ms Corcoran said they were also making such an application.
Counsel for the State Karl Hanahoe said the case would not be going ahead during these sittings.
In reply to a question from Judge O'Shea, he said the case could run for over a week but, depending on what course of action the defendants took, that could be shortened.
Counsel for the defendants said it was not possible to gauge how long the trial could last at this stage.
