Film Director Jim Sheridan and his wife Fran have settled a High Court case against various contractors over alleged defective works on their Dalkey home in Dublin.

The case against all defendents was struck out with orders made against the project manager, the architects, and a consulting engineer to pay all costs.

The details of the settlement were not disclosed, but speaking afterwards Sheridan said he was reasonably happy.

The Sheridans had claimed that defective work on their home at ‘Martha's Vineyard’ on Coliemore Road caused extensive water damage, and prevented them from selling their home when it was worth €7m.

Today it is probably worth in between €3.5m and €4m.

The couple initially wanted to sue the various contractors for €4m.
