The former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair has defended the Iraq war, saying Saddam Hussein could have put his nuclear programme back in action at any time.
However, he acknowledged there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq when the US and Britain launched a military invasion seven years ago.
Tony Blair said he believes that a fundamentalist extremist threat based on a perversion of the religion of Islam still exists and has to be dealt with.
Speaking on RTÉ's Late Late Show, Mr Blair said Iran should be dealt with in a similiar way to Iraq if it is found to be developing nuclear weapons.
