Wicklow Labour TD Liz McManus has said she will not seek re-election to the Dáil.
In a statement, she said it was vital that Labour offered new and younger candidates to the electorate.
Ms McManus said that with the right candidates, Labour could win two seats in Co Wicklow.
‘For the past 31 years, I have served as a public representative, firstly on Bray and Wicklow Councils, and then as TD in Dáil Éireann since 1992,’ Ms McManus said in her statement.
‘It has been a privilege for me to represent Co Wicklow for the Labour Party and I will continue to do so to the best of my ability until the next General Election.
‘I believe, however, that it is vital that Labour offers new, younger candidates to the electorate at the next General Election.’
Ms McManus said she plans to continue as an active member of the Labour Party in her retirement.
