Exports of Irish beef to Russia are expected to increase in the coming months after the Russian authorities eased their BSE testing standards.
Minister for Agriculture Brendan Smith welcomed the decision to raise the testing age limit from 30 to 48 months for slaughtered cattle.
The move means that BSE testing requirements for beef exports from Ireland to the Russian Federation are now the same as for exports to EU member states.
