A fire at a hotel in Ballsbridge in Dublin has been brought under control.

Eight units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the D4 Berkeley Hotel at around 7am this morning after a fire broke out on the seventh floor of the building.

Two people, a guest and a member of staff, were taken to hospital to be treated for the effects of smoke inhalation, but both have since been discharged.

A spokesperson for the hotel said the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

The building was evacuated, but no other injuries were reported.
