Gardaí are investigating a suspected act of vandalism which caused a significant gas leak, resulting in the closure of one of Dublin's busiest roads.
The leak, on Davitt Road, in Drimnagh - which links onto the Naas Road - caused the Luas Red Line to suspend services, and resulted in long delays for thousands of commuters.
The leak has now been contained.
Four units of the Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene and a district officer described it as a major leak.
The pipe is located close to homes but no evacuations were necessary.
