A man thought to be in his early 60s, who was rescued by the RNLI lifeboat on Lough Derg late last night, is said to be in a critical condition at Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

The Lough Derg crew arrived to find the man at the helm of the vessel in an unconscious state and suffering from hypothermia.

Press Officer with Lough Derg RNLI Eleanor Hooker said the team was called to the scene just before midnight following reports from a witness on the shoreline that a vessel ran aground at Tinkers Point.
