Up to 130 people have been protesting outside the Mosney Reception Centre today over plans to move 111 people to other centres around the country.
Currently up to 800 asylum seekers live in Mosney and the Reception and Integration Agency says they are going to move 111 of them tomorrow to other centres, mainly in Dublin.
A spokesperson for the Department of Justice said that there were 8,000 asylum seekers in the country and that spaces had become available in other centres, particularly in Dublin city, and it was decided to move some from Mosney to there.
However, the protestors have said that they were being treated like animals.
They were told they were to be moved without any consideration for the lives they had created in Mosney.
Many of them have been at Mosney for five or more years and have claimed that they will not leave the centre.
The Department of Justice says the move is aimed at saving money.
The Department has said single men and single women will be relocated as a result of a value for money audit.
