The new Waterford Crystal facility officially opened this morning.

It will generate more than 100 jobs in Waterford city.

The House of Waterford Crystal is part of a €25m investment in the new visitor and manufacturing centre and the development of heritage and tourism facilities in the city.

The project is the result of an agreement between Waterford City Council and WWRD Holdings, the group that owns and operates the brand.

The House of Waterford Crystal will employ 79 full-time and 33 part-time staff, with a further 30 to 40 temporary staff during peak season.

Annually, it will produce around 40,000 handcrafted high-end pieces using traditional methods.

Other products will continue to be made abroad.
