The mid-west operation of the Business Angel Partnership in Limerick was launched today.

The partnership supports investment financing and seed capital for small to medium industries here.

The Business Angel Partnership is an initiative between Enterprise Ireland, Intertrade Ireland and the Irish Business Innovation Centres, which operate regionally enabling private investors to invest in early stage and developing businesses.

There are BIC offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Waterford, which have brokered 50 investment opportunities amounting to over €18m to a cross-section of Irish companies since the start up in 1990.

Speaking about the project, Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Innovation Batt O’Keeffe said that investment in hi-tech companies, particularly start-up firms, is critical if we are to develop an innovation intensive economy, so that our indigenous employer sector is ready to take advantage of growth opportunities as Ireland and the world emerge from recession.
