Official figures show that consumer prices fell at an annual rate of 3.1% in March, a slightly smaller fall than the 3.2% recorded in February.

The Central Statistics Office said prices in March rose 0.1% compared with February.

Clothing and footwear prices continued to climb following the end of the January sales and higher oil prices pushed petrol and diesel prices up.
