ESB Chief Executive Padraig McManus has accused the Cork City Manager Joe Gavin of attempting to move the issue of blame for last November's floods to the ESB.
Mr McManus said this development was 'sad'.
Mr McManus told the Oireachtas Joint Committee on the Environment that Mr Gavin's report on the flooding of the Lee contained several inaccuracies.
He argued that the warnings given by the ESB on 19 November could not have been any more explicit on the volume of water being discharged from the ESB dam.
Mr McManus further stated that while the ESB had issued clear warnings, it was a matter of regret there had not been any phone calls coming in the opposite direction from Cork City Council.
