A woman in her 30s, who was found dead at an apartment in Sandyford this morning, was the third fatal stabbing victim this year.
She was found dead in a bedroom on the Irish Management Institute campus.
A man in his late 40s was admitted to hospital and treated following the incident.
It is understood the woman worked as a nurse and was visiting a man in an apartment at the campus last night. Neither were students at the institute.
Gardaí were called to a residential building on the campus, located off Sandyford Road, at 7am.
The alarm was raised after a security guard and a resident investigated noises coming from one of the rooms.
They discovered the injured man lying on the floor and the woman's body underneath a sheet.
An IMI spokesperson said the residence is advertised on the internet as a hotel, and is also used by people who are attending courses at the institute.
Gardaí are not looking for anyone else in connection with the woman's death.
