1,700 people are reported to have contracted the swine flu virus in the last week.
The figure indicates a slight increase compared with the previous seven days.
To date, 22 people have died from the virus in Ireland but no further deaths have been reported in recent weeks.
There are 150 people in hospital with the virus, six people are in intensive care.
The HSE is asking people with an underlying medical condition and those who are pregnant, who have not yet been vaccinated, to seek immunisation at one of its clinics before the start of February.
From February on the HSE hopes to begin vaccinating the general population.
