Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry has issued a lengthy statement criticising the Moriarty Tribunal.

The tribunal is investigating Mr Lowry's involvement in the awarding of the State's second mobile phone licence.

In a ten-page statement, the former Minister said he was not being given the chance to reply to new material introduced to the tribunal, which he accused of pursuing outlandish theories of its own.

Mr Lowry says will the tribunal will be reporting soon.

The tribunal was established in September 1997 to look into payments to politicians and related matters.
